Bahía Junquillal Wildlife Refuge

Bahía Junquillal is a 505 hectare area in the north of Murciélago, it is part of Guanacaste conservation area. The small refuge is a place to protect pelicans, other seabirds and turtles which come to the area’s 2 kilometer long beach to lay their eggs.

In the area it is possible to discover animals such as coatis, raccoons, monkeys and a variety of lizards. The flora in the refuge is characteristic to the dry forest; wild bromeliads, mostrenco trees and mangroves. The area is ideal for camping, swimming and snorkeling due to the calm beach with clear water and beautiful surroundings.
